UNC was down 6-0 going into the sixth inning. The Tar Heels then scored three runs in the bottom of the sixth and six runs in the bottom of the seventh to take a 9-6 win and a 1-0 lead in the best-of-three Super Regional. UNC got a shaky good start from Robert Woodard who gave up six earned runs who gave up only two earned runs in 6.1 innings but four more unearned. The bullpen came in a shutdown the Gamecocks the rest of the way and give the offense a chance to put some runs on the board.
Game #2 is Saturday at 7 PM in Chapel Hill. If the Heels win they will make a return trip to the College World Series.

THF, I realize the Gametracker box score could be wrong, but it said Woodard gave up six runs but only two earned runs.
Whatever, a 9-6 win over the Gamecocks is pretty doggone good.
Go Heels!

Wayne,
That is what I was looking at…maybe I read it wrong…I was on the tail end of a 14 hour day at work.
