- NC State beat someone they were supposed to! Still looks like he who has diarrhea of the mouth Gavin Grant and J.J Hickson are the only two players with a remote interest in scoring. And while the Pack ended up winning by 25 they also went about nine minutes without a basket in the second half. Playing a low tier team you can get away with that kind of drought. Do something like that in ACC play it will be a long winter.
- FSU and Virginia Tech registered losses with ODU dropping the Hokies and Butler winning over the Noles. Since Butler is ranked and ODU has proven they are a very good team neither one of these losses are considered alarming, not that anyone on the selection committee is looking at VT for anything.
- Among the undefeated teams left are UNC, Duke, Miami and Clemson. UNC whipped Rutgers, Duke over Albany and Miami made short work of Stetson.

I wish there was a way to measure how good Miami is. We obviously know how great Duke is, and Carolina as well. Clemson is also kind of hard to measure. If Clemson and Miami upset Carolina and can keep from getting blown out by Duke, we will know then that they are the real deal.

We’ll find out how good Miami is PDQ after they start playing ACC road games. I’m not going to become a believer (in Miami) until they prove it with solid play against some tough competition.

As I said before Miami has the same feel you got from Clemson last season with their 17-0 start. That being said Miami has three wins while not overly impressive do point to signs of life in Coral Gables. Miami beat Providence and Miss St on the road and VCU at home. Providence has a win over BC in Boston and VCU has a win over Maryland. Clemson won by 2 at Starksville whereas Miami won by six.
What does that mean? At face value it would appear Miami is better than BC and Maryland and almost as good as Clemson. The problem is no one can say for sure how good Clemson is because they really have not played impressive opposition.
I agree with Wayne though. Talk to me at the end of January when Miami has run this gauntlet: GT, @BC, @NCSU, UNC, Clemson, @Wake. If they are 3-3 or 4-2 after than stretch then they might be the fourth or fifth best team in the ACC.
