The first game in what could be the greatest Final Four ever played. Will the lack of offense for UCLA or the poor FT shooting for Memphis be the factor here? I am leaning towards the former with Memphis winning a game in the 60s.
Comments if you have them. See you at 8:47 PM for UNC-Kansas.

Secretly hoping for Memphis to win. For my brackets sake UCLA but I don’t want to give them another reason to gloat.

For the record, Billy Packer just said he didn’t like that UCLA timeout with 8:01 to go in the first (1 second before the next TV timeout would’ve happened on the next stoppage).

Howland makes a habit of doing that, and he’s run short on time-outs in late game situations during the tournament (against Texas A&M, I think, in particular). I always liked the Dean theory, holding onto them as if they were life-jackets on the Titanic.

He did it so he could maximize the rest. Roy will do that but late in the 2nd half if he does, especially if he wants Lawson to get an extended break.

“What is Dean Smith doing with Scott Cherry in the game?”

Heh…I notice the mantra this game is:
“Why is Kevin Love not getting touches?”

Kevin Love made a horrible choice in schools. UCLA doesn’t play a style compatible with his skill set.
Ben Howland the coaching genius has called time-out with UCLA down 13 with a minute to go. Tough to come back from 13 down when you haven’t even gotten to 60 yet, coach.

John Wooden’s teams pushed the pace, unlike Ben Howland, who thinks he is coaching some team with no talent that needs to slow the game down. You simply have no margin for error when you play slow like that.

That was a boring game. I think the Heels can handle Memphis. They didn’t seem to move to much in the half court offense. Alot of 1 on 1 moves. Who will cover Rose? He looked like he would be the Heels biggest problem. I think that game would have been over much sooner if UCLA had tried to run with Memphis.
