I have nothing new or insightful to add right now so enjoy these highlights of the 1983-84 UNC basketball season. Afterward someone please explain how that team did not win a national title.

Gotta love Jordan to Daughtery. Man, I know we try to immulate that kind of offense now, but those athletes seemed superior to me than what we have today. I have to imagine that studding our team with top power forwards we will more than likely look like a Georgetown going forward. But hey, whatever works. I am most interesting in winning games. But, that was high fashion right there.

Kenny Smith broke his wrist thanks to LSU. Things might have turned out different.

You do realize 20 years from now someone is going to ask how the 2008 team did not win a title and the answer will be:
Ty Lawson nearly broke his ankle thanks to FSU. Things might have turned out different.

I feel the same way, how in the world did we not win it all in ‘94, ‘84, ‘08? It’s like Dean always used to say…you have to be really good and everything has to fall into place! Man I hope Ty Lawson comes back and withdraws his name from the draft. After Tyler he is the most important piece next year. Oh well, you never know…I didn’t think we had a chance in ‘93 either. Go Heels!

The 2009 team should watch this and start playing like that. They looked like they were having a lot more fun than the 2008 team. This year we didn’t seem to have many dunks and it is something we should do more, rather than jump shots. Dunks are just so much more energizing and fun, for the player and fans. It was probably because we didn’t have one of those 6′6″ swing man like whats-his-name but maybe next year!

Remember, guys, players stayed longer in those halcyon days. MJ went three years and Perkins pulled a Psycho T four-bagger.

Not to mention Daugherty.

it was either THF or william that posted during or just prior to the NCAA tourney about that year’s team and the incredible run they kicked off using Steve Hale at the PG. Did that highlight include a slam by Hale…or was I deceived ?!?
Jordan’s best dunk as a Tarheel must be when he rocked that slam against Maryland.

Thank You THF. Is is alway nice to relive parts of our history. That must have been a special time for those guys.

Does anyone remember or have the clip where Steve Hale gets fouled going in for a layup and hits his head on the backboard and has a black eye? That was a rough fast break. He looked like Tyson landed one on him. He was a real good player. The list for the UNrecognized. Steve Hale, Warren Martin, Steve Bucknall, David Popson, Ranzino Smith. YOU guys were great!

Just goes to show how difficult it is to win a Championship.

Love Jordan pulling the ball off the backboard.

Yes, this may be one of the greatest teams of all time that didn’t win a championship. But even without the injury to Kenny Smith, winning might have been tough – we would have had to get past the Hakeem Olajuwon Houston team and Georgetown with Patrick Ewing.

Check out the footage of the 1994-95 UNC team on YouTube. I’ve tried to attach the link several times, but to no avail.

Watching that team, with that compilation of highlights, left me exhausted, satisfied, and thoroughly rocked. Kinda like…
