Showing Some Love to Those Lady Tar Heels

Lost in this horrible weekend was the fact that (1) the Duke women were dropped from the NCAA Tournament despite being tagged with the “best team in the nation on a mission with their veteran team totally hungry after losing  the title game last season” label which UCLA is really hoping will work for them in Atlanta and (2) the fact the UNC women are in the Elite Eight with a chance to punch their own ticket for the Final Four tonight versus Purdue  at 9 PM on ESPN.

Since Duke and NC State are both out and UNC has notched huge wins over Tennessee and UConn already this season which I would think make them the favorite to win the national championship.  We can only hope the women’s regional championship game goes better than it did for the men.

I wrote this last night without checking to see what happened with UConn. I would say it is setting up nicely for the women but there is nothing nice or easy in the NCAA Tournament.

Can you believe that the former LSU coach blew a $400,000 gig for coaching that team?

Pokey? I will be forever perplexed by the actions of people in positions of power making that kind of cash who throw it all away by doing something like having an affair with a player.
