Where: Dean Smith Center, Chapel Hill, NC
When: Saturday, December 22nd, 1:00 PM
Records: UNC 10-0; UCSB 10-1

So how was practice on Thursday?  Ty Lawson said it was the hardest one they have had since his first one on Chapel Hill.  Roy said the 12 hours between the end of the Nicholls State and practice gave him enough restraint to avoid killing some or all of the players.   The overarching lesson to the player, according to Lawson, was the need to respect every opponent that comes down the tunnel.  Unfortunately for UCSB, they could be the first recipient of UNC’s newfound intensity and focus.

UCSB on paper has an impressive 10-1 record which was largely built on west coast Little Debbie snacks.  Not that it matters what the record is, if UNC comes out with a similar defensive effort as Wednesday night, UCSB will look like a million dollars.  UCSB is a good shooting team, especially from the perimeter which stands to reason that this game could serve as an excellent test to see how seriously the Heels are taking playing up to snuff on the defensive end of the floor.  Anything less than a dominant effort is going to bring more questions about how good UNC is or can be.

If it is all the same, the fewer the questions, the better.

Questions answered Tar Heel fan???!!!!! What a great effort our Heels put forth. When I overlook all of the games we have played up to this point, and how well we have played in them, we could definately make the argument that we are the best team in the land.

I admit I’ve been a little worried about our big men getting drawn out on the perimeter, but Tyler is truly amazing with his ability to strip the ball. The facets of his game are seemingly never-ending. One of the announcers the other night said that Roy wanted him to take some 3’s early in games because he regularly nails them in practice. Roy got a little choked up in the post-game, talking about how lucky they were to be coaching him. There have been some great ones pass through the doors at UNC, but this guy’s right up there with the likes of Lennie, Charlie, Phil, James & George IMO.

UNC is without a doubt the #1 team in the nation.

Having said that, there is no doubt in my mind that UNC will lose a game or two or three maybe four in the process of their potential championship season . Your question is which games will it be?

    “dook” maybe

The games that most concern me:

    Duke both times
    at Clemson
    at UVa
    at NCSU

Historically speaking no UNC team has ever won a national title with more than four losses overall and more than two losses in the ACC regular season. In 1957 they were undefeated, 1982: 32-2, 12-2, 1993: 34-4, 14-2, 2005: 34-4, 14-2.
