Bob Staak said it best, when asked about Duke’s “vaunted” defense, as I paraphrase: “Yeah, Duke plays great defense. Five guys fouling all the time and never getting called for it.”

  2. Josh Bowling says:

That’s the key. Make sure every players committs contact, that way you can not pin it on anyone if you are an official.

  3. JMOHN says:

unc should be taking notes from Duke on how to play defense. And there is nothing more sad then complaining about the refs.

THF, don’t you guys have a game vs BC tonight. I have never seen a gameday errrrr season where unc fans are more worried about Duke than the team(s) they are playing.

Every team should take notes on Duke’s defense. Maybe Carolina can ask Mike Patrick how to play forty minutes of chest-to-ball without picking up a blocking foul.

I do agree fans shouldn’t complain about the refs. It should be left to coaches to berate them profanely, that is, if the refs aren’t suspended for botching calls.

THIS IS A GEM TO ME!!!!

I love it when dook fans drop in to post their feeble thoughts on how we should be playing…..Please, I will say this one time only……….WE ARE, AND WILL BE THE MEASURING STICK FOR SUCCESS, NOT ONLY IN THE STATE BUT THE WHOLE NATION YEAR IN AND YEAR OUT FOR EVER MORE………. There are never any concern or ” worry ” of Duke. Even when we are not as strong we are not worried of Duke. These are simply in house conversations on how we view being ” fair ” and ” good sportsmanship ” and always striving to be even better while playing the game, but i will agree with one point that jmohn states…… WE SHOULD TAKE NOTES ON HOW DUKE PLAYS DEFENSE, And play them the same way they have play others, just for those particular games….Now from my point of view ( I’m just one man with Ideas the same as anyone else ) The only thing that I see wrong with us on D is that we do not possess an identity yet that will get into everyone’s head that we will not be stopped or controlled at any point of the game by anyone including ourselves…..I’ve been watching the game between us and Virginia 2006 when tyler was a freshman. We had David Noel, Tyler, Byron Sanders, Rayshawn Terry, Q, Bobby, Wes, Marcus, And Danny, and that D was stifling then. We are a more athletic team now, even without Booby ( who has not been up to speed since his first injury ) and we can’t seem to grasp the concept on how to play D

    JMOHN!

First of all, feel free to look back at my posts for this season and see how many you can find that were solely focused on Duke. I think yesterday was the first one but I could be mistaken. Secondly, I am simply ramping up to the game next week by taking a few shots at Duke. Nothing personal just rivalry and me keeping it real since I very rarely opt for this kind of material. And finally if you missed the radio appearance I was very complimentary to Duke and their defense citing it as a major concern for UNC heading into the game next week.

10-4, just taking a few shots back. 🙂

J-MO, I don’t know what you saw in last night’s game, but it looked to me like a team warming up to crush Duke. You’ve got to be smarter than to give a sermon to all of us about complaining about refs, looking ahead to Duke, etc……but I’ve been wrong before. Look to your leader Coach K about complaining, the whiner par excellence. I hope that they bring back those ads this year of him driving around like a dork in one of those stupid looking Chevy car/trucks, or maybe the soppy one about how much money he has and the huge limits that he has on his American Express card because he’s a winner in life………….Have a nice day.

  9. DG4heels says:

    Flop, Flop, Slap, Slap,
Why do the Refs put up with this crap?
    Man. Dook. Sucks.

Watching the NCSU game last night it really hit home – Dook flaunts the rules in every game. They grab, hold, flop, and do whatever they want, allowing the refs to call what they want to call. Whatever isn’t called is an advantage for them. There are many calls that are made, but many obvious ones that aren’t, and that gets into the opponents’ heads. But that’s their strategy – to get inside the opponent’s head and let them beat themselves. UNC has had success these last few years at keeping their cool, resulting in wins and Dook coming unglued. It’s pretty cool when this strategy backfires and it’s the antagonist losing his mind! Go Heels!

  10. That is classic. Nicely done.
