And it’s not the easiest road to travel.
The 2008 football schedule is out for UNC and it will be a fairly stiff test for the Heels in Butch Davis’ second season. The Heels face seven bowl teams from last season as well as teams like NC State and Miami who are expected to improve. UNC will play seven teams at home: McNeese State, Virginia Tech, UConn, Notre Dame, Boston College, Georgia Tech and NC State. All of those will be tough games, with the exception of McNeese State. I am thinking Notre Dame will be a better team than the 3-9 from last season and UConn has established itself as a consistent winner. The five road games include Rutgers, Miami, Virginia, Maryland and Duke. The first three on that list stand to be rough business, though UNC played well versus Miami last season and Davis might have their number. If the Heels get to a bowl this season it will be against a competitive schedule.
