They Should Not Have Let Marc Davis Retire

The guy jumping off the balcony of the frat house into the pool is Bobby Frasor.  Yes, that Bobby Frasor. The same Bobby Frasor, who on December 27, 2007 fell awkwardly during the game against Nevada and did unholy things to his left knee.  The same Bobby Frasor who now bears a four inch scar on that left knee as a result of the surgery required to repair his shredded ACL.  The same Bobby Frasor who, if Ty Lawson goes pro, will be the starting point guard and will also be only one of two point guards on the roster(the other being a freshman.)

I am glad to see the rehab is going so well but WHAT IN THE NAME OF DEAN SMITH ARE YOU DOING LEAPING OFF A BALCONY INTO A SWIMMING POOL!!!!!!!

*Ahem*

If you look at the right side of the balcony you will see Tyler Hansbrough standing there wearing a grey shirt.  Tyler is not watching his teammate make such a risky jump, he seems to be pretty enthralled with the attractive young lady standing in front of him.  These festivities took place on Friday afternoon, the same day Tyler announced he was returning to UNC for his senior season.  Friday was apparently a very good day for Tyler.

I like to see guys have fun, but this scares me.

  2. Josh Bowling says:

You’re right. They shouldn’t let Marc Davis retire unless they plan on replacing him with God

  3. DeanForever says:

WTF Bobby? What’s next, clips of Larry Drew in a shark tank? Ty Lawson karate-kicking a brick wall (with THAT foot/ankle)?

    Geesh.

  4. C. Michael says:

Hopefully that is the girlfriend who was rumored to be a major factor in Tyler’s decision, otherwise… uh oh… 😉

No worries about Bobby. When I was in college and at the same stage in my rehab, our head trainer had us jumping off the high dive. The landing is good for finishing up the flexibility. 😉

  5. 52BigGameJames says:

man, to be young and in CH in the springtime….sigh

  6. C. Michael says:

Sitting in Upstate NY, where it was a high of 45 today, made me think the same thing!!

  7. 52BigGameJames says:

brrrr–at least you’ll be happy in July!

what did you guys think of Larry Brown going to Charlotte? I will be interested to see how Sean makes out.

  8. TxTarheel says:

Seems like MJ is “putting the band back together” and is on a “mission from God”. Perhaps coaching in a weaker Eastern conference, Larry can coax a few more extra wins. Might be good for Felton’s career arc as well…speaking of which wouldn’t Phil Ford be a nice fit beside Brown ?

  9. And after having 4 knee surgeries, looking at Bobby leaping into the pool confirms that he is either crazy or a far better man than I ever was. I couldn’t even crouch down for 6 months.

Let’s just hope Ty wasn’t next in line on the balcony.

  10. ndenise says:

I’m not surprised. Shenanigans such as these have always been commonplace at Sig Ep.
What DOES surprise me is how no one seems to be outraged. DUDE, you are a precious commodity, whether you like it or not. Don’t be a dummy!

  11. wcb22 says:

I did thing like that at his age, but now it just looks stupid. I suppose I am old.

  12. Jim U. says:

    Height of balcony: 12-15 feet?
    Depth of water: 4 feet?
    Crazy

  13. keithunc says:

Soooo, Rehab must be complete then??

  14. C. Michael says:

probably pretty close. 20 weeks is straight ahead sprinting. When did he have his surgery?

  15. Tar Heel Fan says:

From the Burlington Times last week:

The coming days and weeks could become a critical step in the recovery process of Bobby Frasor, the North Carolina men’s basketball guard who’s working through the slow grind of rehabilitation from a major injury.

Frasor, who tore the anterior cruciate ligament in his left knee Dec. 27, soon will embark on extended jogs and squatting exercises in an effort to continue regaining leg strength.

He said his quadriceps, in particular, has been a targeted area.

“It’s going to be challenging and it’ll be a lot of work,” he said. “Right now it’s just all about strengthening my quad, so that’s the big key.”
There’s a 3-inch vertical scar, red and raised, that remains on Frasor’s knee. He’s expected to be back on the court in time for the start of October practice next season.

So he is going to start going jogging and squats for the purpose of getting his leg strength back.

  16. […] Charlotte to Carolina, and trading Adam Morrison for $37 would be a great start. At least wait until Tywon decides, […]

  17. Wilson says:

I went to this party later in the day and somebody showed me a picture of him in flight. Pretty amazing. And yes, Tyler was one popular dude on Friday night.

  18. Blueblood says:

    who took that picture?

  19. Tar Heel Fan says:

    Wilson,

You see that kind of information and on the scene reporting is the kind of stuff I need to break stories on THF. Speak up young man! 😉

  20. Leann says:

Maybe Wilson can confirm the part about Tyler and the girl in the picture.

Based on the angle of the picture though, at that moment, the girl Tyler was talking to could be just raising her arm and not necessarily positioning it around Tyler’s neck. Furthermore, it could very well have been his girlfriend…who was in a picture on his dresser on a feature about the Hansbrough/Ginyard/Frasor/Puckett House on Inside Carolina Basketball w/ Roy Williams earlier this year.

But hey, as much as we probably want to hope that Tyler is a saint in all aspects of his life, he is still a college guy. I’m sure his eye is going to wander just like most of the guys his age. And, if it does, then that’s something he and his girlfriend get to handle.

Let’s also keep in mind that he pretty much hit the ceiling on Big Man On Campus that day in particular.

  21. Wilson says:

Haha, THF, I didn’t want to start off a storm of gossip. You see, the guy that showed me the picture (on his camera phone) told me that it was Tyler, not Bobby, so you can see that had I spread that, it may have had great repercussions.

Where DID the picture come from?

  22. Wilson says:

Also, Tyler was sans girl when I saw him, but that didn’t mean girls weren’t around him. I had a hard time containing MYSELF.

  23. Tar Heel Fan says:

850 the Buzz had it, not sure of the source.

  24. meat gazer says:

I believe as Bobby was leaping from the roof, on a fully strengthened ACL, no longer shredded, he yelled “How does my meat taste?” What was more impressive was Tyler’s 1 1/2 off the balcony followed by his back flip. Everybody chill, he didn’t hit his sack on the bottom of the pool or anything.

  25. 52BigGameJames says:

back before there was history, I attended a summer party in CH that was hosted by a few members of the football team. the friend who had invited us was an All-ACC player, and also a good looking dude–he later won the NFL strong-man contest. Good-Gawd, my other bud & I were content to just try to catch the fall-off rejects…simply mind-blowing if you’ve never witnessed it.

In my next life, just gimme one year as BMOC-I’ll gladly retire to the abbey after the year.

  26. Johnny says:

    Ah. the college days.

  27. william says:

It’s called having fun. If you knew half the stuff these guys do, a lot of you wouldn’t be able to sleep….

  28. C. Michael says:

Haha… I’m still young enough to remember half the stuff I did (alcohol took care of the other half), and it certainly keeps me up at night!! 😉

  29. DeanForever says:

I wonder what Greg Paulus does in the offseason? Lembas bread eating contests? What about Jon Scheyer? I would kill for a photo of he and Gary Busey having a duel to see who could make the most hideous face. I don’t know what Taylor King is doing…but whatever it is, it ain’t in Durham.

  30. DeanForever says:

Ooops, I forgot. Wojo, or “Fat Hobbit”, hath eaten all of the Lembas bread! Dang!

  31. Bill says:

This is Bobby. Shortly After this Tyler did the same thing, followed by Marcus. I was at the party. I did the jump as well along with about 20-25 other people. Not so bad.

  32. Olivia says:

    well. after reading this article.
    i would like to say…
tyler wansnt distracted. he was simply waiting his turn in line
