Odds and Ends

  • The baseball team moved to 42-9 over the weekend losing only a rain shortened game to UVa.  The Heels play their final scheduled “home” game of the season against Winthrop tonight in Cary.  This weekend it is off to Coral Gables for a huge three game set with Miami in a #1 vs #2 battle.  The Heels trail Miami by three games in the loss column for the Coastal Division title in the ACC and are ranked 2nd behind the Hurricanes in all three major polls.
  • T.J. Yates made the most of his spring by improving his footwork and watching game film.  He stands to be ready for fall practice now that he is able to throw the football again.
  • How can the ACC produce so many NFL Draft picks but not be competitive in the BCS?
  • I do pay some attention to the NBA during the playoffs and what LeBron James did to Kevin Garnett here is just sick.

That was a nice dunk LeBron had over Kevin Garnett. I have been most impressed with Chris Paul this postseason. I wish Lebron would get his jumper more consistent, and then he would be one of the greats! I guess Yates will be our main qb going forward. I hope this confidence in him will pay off. He showed signs of excellence at the beginning of the season last year, and then seemed to tail off a bit. I would love for him to get his decisions to be more pinpoint, and then we could compete in the ACC.

Thought this might be enlightening for those who wonder why Tywon and Wayne are thinking about the NBA, even though some don’t believe they are ready.

The Cektics’ strategy has been to deny LeBron the paint, or drives to the basket, and you can see why! Unreal. However, LeBron is shooting something like 25 percent in the series.

Garnett made the smart move to let LeBron go… if he tries to block that it, he probably would have shattered both ulna and radius…

  5. C. Michael, take another look. I don’t know whether it was called, but from the baseline camera, it’s clear that KG gave a nice little shove to LeBron’s midsection. It could have been called and would certainly have been a stupid foul to give. You are right in the sense that it would have been the smarter move to let him go.

Hey WCB22, I don’t feel enlightened by that, I feel endarkened. But good post, I just wish we could get them another year.

Could call, Ed. Didn’t see that. I was just talking about going up for the block…
